The history of Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin dates back to the era of American Prohibition, when alcohol was often produced under rather precarious conditions. At that time, due to the shortage of legally available alcohol, people resorted to using low-quality or even denatured alcohol, which they infused with juniper and other spices in their bathtubs at home. The herbs and spices were left to steep in the alcohol for several days or weeks to improve its flavour and mask its inferior quality. This is how the term ‘Bathtub Gin’ came about.

Ableforth’s Bathtub Old Tom Gin is characterised by a clean flavour profile with an intriguing, slightly peppery note.

This premium gin is distilled in traditional copper stills and derives its characteristic flavour from the addition of specific aromatics and a hint of sweetness.
