Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin 43.3% ABV 1.5l online kaufen

The history of Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin dates back to the era of American Prohibition, when alcohol was often produced under rather precarious conditions. At that time, due to the shortage of legally available alcohol, people resorted to using low-quality or even denatured alcohol, which they infused with juniper and other spices in their bathtubs at home. The herbs and spices were left to steep in the alcohol for several days or weeks to improve its flavour and mask its inferior quality. This is how the term ‘Bathtub Gin’ came about.

Drawing on these historical methods and inspired by the story, the makers of Ableforth’s researched various historical sources to create their own unique gin. They began with a classic London Dry Gin, traditionally distilled in a copper pot still. However, unlike conventional gins, where the production process ends after distillation, the production of Bathtub Gin involves further experimentation. Over the course of seven days, six selected botanicals are added to the distillate, imparting not only exceptional aromas and flavours to the gin but also a slight colour.

Bathtub Gin is produced in small batches of just 30–60 bottles, with regular quality control samples taken. This ensures a high standard of craftsmanship and quality at every stage of the production process.
